Montana State Trade Expansion Program

Montana STEP grant is a Federal grant administered by ExportMontana and is funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration. STEP grant priorities are:

• Companies new to the STEP grant.
• Companies who attended the Riddle of the Exporter training.
• Companies with more than 2 employees.
• For each company, 1 STEP grant award for each of the 6 activities per year.  Should there be any remaining monies once these priorities are met, funding a company’s applications for additional shows or other activities will be considered.

Eligible Activities

Eligible activities include:

• 1. International Trade Show Exhibition – up to $10,000 reimbursement + up to $2,000 travel stipend 
• 2. Language Translation Services & Production Fees – up to $6,000 reimbursement
• 3. Market Research & Marketing Services from the U.S. Commercial Service – up to $5,000 reimbursement + up to $2,000 travel stipend
• 4. International Compliance Testing – up to $6,000 reimbursement
• 5. Montana Online Global Program – up to $6,000 reimbursement
• 6. International Travel Stipend – up to $2,000 reimbursement
