The Governor’s Business and Community Development Division pursues business expansion and relocation with the goal of developing job creation and export opportunities for Texas. Comprised of three areas, this division is made up of Business Development, Business Assistance, Economic Development Finance.
The Governor’s Office of Small Business Assistance is committed to informing small- and medium-sized enterprises about state and federal incentives and programs. The team serves as a focal point in the state for start-ups, small businesses and Historically Underutilized Businesses. In both urban and rural communities, Texas is an epicenter for business growth and expansion.
The Governor's Office partnered with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), and the U.S. Department of Commerce to administer the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP), a matching grant program geared towards assisting small businesses in exporting, funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
