The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc. (CFDA) is a not-for-profit trade association founded in 1962, whose membership consists of 477 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers. The mission of the CFDA is to strengthen the impact of American fashion in the global economy.
To be a Member of the CFDA is to belong to an exclusive group of America’s foremost fashion, jewelry, and accessory designers.
Today, the CFDA has more than 500 Members—among them Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Rachel Zoe, Vera Wang, Yeohlee Teng, Gerard Yosca, Mimi So, and Virgil Abloh.
Membership in the CFDA is by election and invitation-only. Candidates for Membership must be of recognized ability, standing and integrity and must be actively engaged in creative fashion design. The process for Admissions takes place annually each spring.
